Jaguars and Cougars and Tigers and Lions, Oh My!

I took these shots at the Omaha Zoo. Jaguars often pace, and these were just perfect!

  1. Fantastic photos! I’m not surprised the jaguars are usually pacing. I’ve read many times that they hate being seen. When they’re in zoos they often hide if there’s lots of visitors. If they can’t hide I imagine they’ll become anxious. I wonder if the same is true for cougars?

    • Thanks, Josh! I’m thinking they want to run and don’t like being cooped up like that. Plus they’re mysterious cats. Not a lot is known about them because they’re so hard to observe. Cougars are similar in that they’re mostly elusive. So it was unusual for the cougar to come right up to the fence like that, so close to where I was taking pictures. And the jaguar was just beautiful. 🙂
