Fairy Mushrooms–Night and Day

Actually, the first one was taken in the early morning hours when it was really dark out, and the second, midday when it was pouring out.  See what a difference it makes when the lighting is different? From autumn moodiness to spring brightness.

That was supposed to be curly parsley that the fairies were tending to, but it looks like they started a mushroom garden instead. You know how the fae are.

I just got the final proofing for Heart of the Wolf for re-release in January. I didn’t know that I could make any changes to the actual book–I’d been working on the final changes to the novella I added–but they’re giving me the opportunity to make changes to the decade-old book. That’s like a redo button. Yay! What did I say ten years ago???? I have no idea.

Okay, behind on Billionaire still, and planned to catch up, but then….the proofing came and I always have like 2 weeks, and that’s it.

Off to work. Think we have more rain and it’s been flooding in some areas, so this is a great time to stay home and write/edit!

Have a lovely day!!

Magical Mushrooms

I highlighted these with a flashlight early one foggy morning. And then the other I did later in the morning, still with a flashlight. I love mushrooms. They come in all shapes and sizes. Do you see the baby one near the base of the other?

My electricity went off in the middle of posting this. Photoshop crashed, so I’ll have to find the other baby mushrooms later.

I finished Flight of the White Wolf! Got word count, just now editing the last chapters!

Then it’s time for taxes, promo blogs, reading an author’s book for a quote, proofing Galaxy Warrior for print, proofing more audiobook chapters for Taming the Wild Cougar and then I can celebrate! And get started on the next Silver wolf book!

‘Til then, I’m off to edit!

Have a fun-filled, magical mushroom day!

Mushrooms in the Dark

mushrooms with a flashlight 900 005.png

I saw these mushrooms the day before and wanted to get a picture of them because they were so interesting. But I got busy, and I didn’t take them. Then when I took the puppies out in the rain in the dark the next morning, the mushrooms were still standing. I thought how neat they would be to take a picture of them in the dark. So with a camp lantern that doesn’t put off much light, and a flashlight, I proceeded to set out an outside doormat on the wet grass, get low, and take some pictures. I think I needed to pull the flashlight back a bit, but that was it on the mushrooms. They have now all collapsed. We had hard rains all night last night and it wreaked the damage. I looked for any new ones, but didn’t see any.

Time to Vote

walk-to-vote-curved-path-900-001I had decided to walk to the polling station first thing this morning. I walked to my mailbox and realized I had forgotten my phone. I don’t always think of it. It isn’t an appendage to me like it is for some. But if I go walking, I want it in case I need it for an emergency. The first time I walked through these sprawling neighborhoods, I was brand new and got lost right away. lol

So having a GPS really helped. So I returned and grabbed the phone and headed out. Totally confused the puppies.

walk-to-vote-pine-needles-dripping-water-900-003A light mist cloaked the whole area. I’d brought my raincoat and several had umbrellas just in case.

walk-to-vote-wet-berries-900-010We waited for maybe an hour to vote, but I was lucky. The line for A-L was much longer than for M-Z. And you have to know that was nice for a change–being a W before I was married, and an S after that, I’ve always been at the back of the line, last to be called. When I’m at the back of the group on book signings, I often wonder if I should have created a pen name. A. Just A. Then I’d be in front for once in my life. 🙂 Every once in a while, we’d line up in reverse order, but that happened so infrequently, that I can only recall maybe two times that it happened in my life.

And then it was done and I was off to walk back home, taking pictures along the way, capturing the winding, mysterious path, right when an older gentleman stopped to talk to me. He was from South Africa, not voting, but visiting his sister. I always say hi to joggers and dog walkers in the morning. Because of the hour, I was nearly run over by kids riding bicycles or not sure what they’re called boards on speed.

And then I tried capturing the misty water droplets on pine needles and berries.

I had to ship off a bear and a book after that, so now I’m home, FINALLY posting my blog.

And now I have to write.

Have a wonderful day!!

My Book is Growing by Leaps and Bounds!

I’m now 15,000 over my minimum. I can’t stop writing! And writing. And writing. But that’s a great thing, isn’t it?

It’s nearly to the end. I mentioned that 15,000 words ago. So apparently, it wasn’t. 🙂

I’ve been hitting this hard for days, the scenes just coming, the characters talking to each other no matter what I’m doing–taking the puppies out for a potty break, fixing meals, wait! Hold on! Keep that thought…or scene, the dialogue! Wait until I’m back at my keyboard!

I wanted to start Cougar Trouble after this, but I’m going to have to jump on the next wolf book. Have to keep moving, don’t look back, only look forward.

variegated iris and skyrocket holly flowers 006 (640x427)But I do stop to take a picture or two or three while I’m at it. These are tall narrow boxwood and they have flowers! I think they say they are inconspicuous, but it looked like millions of new leaves were sprouting, so I took a closer look, and they’re tiny flowers.

variegated iris and skyrocket holly flowers 007 (640x427)variegated iris and skyrocket holly flowers 005 (640x427) (2)No matter how busy you are, do you ever stop to see how life is getting on without you?

variegated iris and skyrocket holly flowers 001 (640x427)And I picked up a butterfly Iris variegated plant. Odd angle, but I was trying to show my friend that it doesn’t have an exposed rhizome like the bearded irises do. What I liked about it is that it’s unusual and eye catching even when not bearing flowers. 🙂

Okay, that’s enough chitchat! Hope you have a super great day!

You know what I’m back to! The NEVER Ending Story. 🙂 Golden Fae.

A Fairy Garden, Au Natural!

Mushrooms, moss and wildflowers in their natural state

Mushrooms, moss and wildflowers in their natural state

A lot of fairies in this fairy village

A lot of fairies in this fairy village

Folks pay a lot to create fairy gardens, but mine just suddenly appeared! I didn’t even notice the moss until I looked at the photos on the computer.

Magic pink rhododendron flowers on summer mountain. Dramatic overcast sky. Carpathian, Ukraine, Europe. Beauty world.

The World of Fae

Having a wee bit o’ fun with taking a break and creating a picture while I’m writing The Viking’s Highland Lass. I’ve pitched 3 books to my editor and she’s taking them to the acquisitions meeting. So if they sell, I’ll be on deadline again. Right now…I’m free!

Off to write.

Have a super great and wonderfully fantastic Friday!

A SEAL Wolf for Sale, THE END!!!

A Wolf

I love it when I can finish the book!

It’s up on Amazon, and the release date is April!

http://www.amazon.com/SEAL-Wolf-Sale-Heart/dp/1402293828

Now I’m back to Her Highland Hero, 16,400 words to go.

We had lots and lots of rain, which usually means mushrooms. But nope. Then we had days and days of hot weather, and there were the mushrooms. So I ran out with my camera and took a couple of pictures. Doesn’t this look like a fairy garden to you? Interesting mushroom. Check. Winged creature. Check. Wildflowers. Check. And the mushroom is split as if it were petals of a flower. Very fairy-like, don’t you think?  Check.

Here is one that hasn’t split like the other. Interesting caps. 🙂

wildflowers star (640x578)

And some kind of wildflower that has stars in the center that made me think of jacks. 🙂

For the first time since my father died fifteen years ago, the giant sunflowers did not come up. I think the farmer must have plowed them up. And that’s sad. I could put the seeds out, but it wouldn’t be the same. When I saw the sunflowers, it made me think of my dad and the love he had of the gardens.

If I do plant some next year, I’ll put them in a different location.

Do you have plants that mean something special to you?
