Mohair Bears and Bunny

So I went to the maternity shoot, and the couple was so much fun. As soon as I got home, I had to go to a neighbor’s Super Bowl party, and that was enjoyable. Picked up another bear order. lol

I looked at some of the maternity pictures, and a lot of them came out beautifully. They wanted pictures of the two dogs too, so between them trying to get them situated, and the dogs being distracted, that was a challenge. But I loved the pictures with the dogs.

I’ll show off a couple soon.

Here are some more bears, but these are the more expensive mohair furs from England and Germany. In the old days, the US had factories that made mohair sweaters, but they don’t any more. So the mohair fabric has to come from Overseas. I love, love, love it, but the material is sooooo expensive–$135-150 or more a yard, and I can’t sell them for much more than I sell plush, which is $35 a yard for the special furs. Once I finish selling off the ones I can make of the mohair fabric I have left, I won’t be offering them any longer. But I do love them!

I hadn’t planned on making any word count yesterday, but I managed 1,000, so am up to 4,000. Seventy-six thousand to go! It might seem impossible, but I didn’t think I’d have 4,000 at the rate I was going!

And I finished up a purple bear that I’ll show off tomorrow. I have to wait until it’s light out to take a picture. 🙂

Oh, and reviews said that the 85mm lens was supposed to be great for portraits. I’ve tried to take pictures with it before, but they’re always way too dark. In the viewer, all I have is black scenes. I used it to shoot the mohair bears and bunny, but on automatic. I haven’t used the auto setting in eons, once I learned how to do manual. But…with this lens, the pictures were like totally black, no matter how I adjusted settings. Auto did a beautiful job on them. The pictures below are of Tanner, my perfect model as he always loves to pose for me. The first was with manual, indoors, and the second, on Auto, outdoors. Yes, the lighting was dark in the house, overcast skies so not a lot of light from outside through the windows. But when I tried to do the manual outdoors, it was still really dark pictures. So I used auto on the maternity shoot and they turned out beautifully. When I did my daughter and her husband’s maternity shoot last year, I think I used the 28-300 lens, they were soft. So these were nice and sharp.

Have to ship a bear and check on shipping costs for a bear to Australia, and finish another bear too! But I also have to get my word count. And go over the maternity shoot photos so I can send them off.

So off to get started. Yes, it’s 4 am….couldn’t sleep, too much to do. 🙂

Have a great one!!!

Super Moon and Teddy Bears

Baby is on her way and I have a maternity shoot tomorrow, but I finished my bear orders and promo blogs for Flight of the White Wolf. Now, I need to write the next jaguar story. Still trying to figure out the first meet!

The maternity shoot is free and I hope I do it justice. The young lady is a good friend of my daughter and set up her baby shower for her. I was volunteered, I didn’t offer. 🙂

She loved the ones I had done of my daughter and son-in-law, but we did it at the golden hour, and most of my pictures were soft. Still working on capturing clear images for people. 🙂 ❤ I took those last March.

These are the bears I finished for orders. And I have another, but waiting on baby’s birth date. The supermoon was beautiful yesterday. Today, it’s hidden by clouds. And the other was the lunar eclipse, but I focused on the tree branches instead of the moon to show what was in my way as I was photographing the moon. 🙂

Have a super TGIF!

Teddy Bears, Sleepless Nights, and Losing Things

Have to make this short because baby is on her way over. I’m so tired this morning. Have you ever had one of those nights that you’re dreaming most of the night, but not really asleep because you know you’re dreaming and you can’t “wake” up either? I don’t remember the dreams, but you know, if that happens, at least it could be a dream ALL about the story I need to write so I could just run with it. But no….it has to be something totally weird and bizarre that I couldn’t write about in a million years. *sigh*

And with baby here all day, I can’t rest either. *double sigh*

So yesterday, and the day before, I was trying to get the bears finished for two orders. Pink Rainbow Bear and MacDonald Clan Bear. I have a couple of more orders to finish also.

I also found my watch charger! Darn fae hid it in my bear making materials box. It’s been missing since before I went to see my son in Omaha for Christmas. See, if I don’t look for something (which I did, all over the place), then I’ll find it when I’m not looking for it. Good thing I finally brought out the box to make the bears! Usually, I find something after I’ve replaced it. I did get a set of 2, that actually are supposed to charge faster than the one that came with this. So hopefully, I won’t lose all 3 of them.

The good thing is when I can’t find something I really want to find, I often find something else I wasn’t looking for but wondered where it had gotten off to some other time.

Okay, off to get ready for the little one. Have a super day!!

Fog and Christmas Lights

I like storms, as long as they don’t fill your house with water, tear down your trees or pull off your roofs, but a nice rainstorm clears the air, charges it with electricity, makes a change in the humdrum of weather. So we have storms coming in for the next few days.

Temperature changes can be wild too–highly fluctuating–from hot to cold, cold to hot. This morning I expected cold like it’s been, but nope, it’s hot. Well, warm. But not cold. And it’s going to be hotter, well, warmer, not cool later today.

It keeps me on my toes though. I HAVE to look at the weather report, just to get a ballpark idea. Because, as we all know, weather reports sometimes aren’t all that accurate. It’s great for changes in stories too–when the weather turns bad, or really nice. Characters have to adjust to the changes too. And it can make for great conflict.

Think of the ship breaking up in a storm. No shelter. A sunny, breezy day. A cold, rainy, blustery day. A foggy dark night. A Highlander in a kilt. *sigh* Got to get back to the story.

So this morning, we had major fog. We had it a couple of days ago, but I was busy and didn’t have time to photograph it. But methinks, wouldn’t it be fun to try and photograph the fog and Christmas lights???

And so at 4:45 this morning, that’s what I was doing, after I took the dogs out. Most everyone had their lights off, so I only had mine and one of my neighbor’s and another’s across the street to capture in the fog. Christmas lights are pretty. Fog is pretty. It was fun capturing them together.

Off to work on a bear and My Highlander. I’m halfway through edits, but still finishing the book too! Picture the Bubblegum Bear (in blue and purple) in Blue Rainbow’s larger size, the big one lying on his back. 🙂 ❤ That’s what I’m currently working on. Well, I cut it out….

Hope you have an excitingly wonderful day! Mine is going to be excitingly busy.

Purple and Orange…

I love purple and orange, so Lilac bear is ready for Halloween, and Max is like, okay, take the picture of me in this ridiculous lion’s hat and get it over with already. First, it was a pumpkin on my head. Then Momma turned me into an Ewok. And then the lion drama. Now she’s dressing the bears she made and poor baby. She’s always dressing her. You’d think we were all doll babies. Ugh.

Yep, it’s picture time!

Have a fun day!!!

Halloween Bears and a Christmas Wolf

My life is a mixed-up season.

I have resorted to listening to Carol of the Bells, God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman and other instrumental music to get into the Christmas spirit for writing Billionaire Wolf Christmas. When I showed this off yesterday on FB, I realized how much I needed to listen to Christmas music to feel the mood. It doesn’t help when it’s 90+ degrees out. 🙂

Have a super fall day!

I’m Not an Artist

My parents were both artists. They  had their own styles, and they were good. They won a contest their first year of marriage for artwork they had  done.

Kids draw. I drew. I was told I was not an artist. I would never be an artist.

*sigh*

Don’t tell kids that. They might not be able to sing (me either), or draw more than stick figures (I liked to draw trees), but if I’d continued to practice (for years and years and years), MAYBE I could have learned to draw. Or not.

There is something to be said about talent. And some have a natural talent for some things, and others don’t. I had a friend who drew horses. She drew movement. Just from memory. And she didn’t own horses. She was an incredibly gifted artist, and this was from when she was young! I had another friend who could make the most extraordinary paper mache creations. In art class in junior high, I made the most standard, basic form. Paper mache and I didn’t get along.

So my artistic talent lies elsewhere. And it’s art. Just a different form of art.

I am an artist. I am. In different kinds of mediums. So there. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you aren’t talented. Who knows… if you persist at learning how to? I might even be able to draw the best trees ever.

I was watching a video on how some creative photo artists got started and became ultra successful. Many didn’t have formal training. They had a natural talent. And a drive to excel.

I’ve created stories since I was little. It came naturally to me. But creating stories, and learning how to put them on paper in a better way took some learning. For photography, I watch videos and read articles all the time. For my bears, I learned that on my own, creating and re-creating patterns to make them better. I embroidered for years and years before that, and added that to my personalized bears. So some is practice to make the art better. It came with time. I’ve never been one to create something and become an instant success.

Have a great and talented day, no matter where your creativity lies. Don’t ever let someone discourage you from reaching your dreams.
